An Exciting Year Ahead

The 2015 year starts with a bang as, on Friday 27th

February, the Company will receive a Royal Charter, to be

presented by the Right Honourable Alan Yarrow, The Lord

Mayor of the City of London. The gift of a Royal Charter

was recently approved by Her Majesty the Queen.

This very prestigious function in the Company’s history

will take place at the Insurance Hall commencing at

11.00am on Friday 27th February - attendees are

requested to be seated by 10-45.

The official ceremony will be followed by a reception,

during which the Lord Mayor and the Lady Mayoress

would like to meet members of the Company and their

partners. The reception will include a buffet during where

wine will be served. The Master is extending an invitation

to all members and their partners to join him for this once

in a lifetime opportunity to witness and enjoy the

Presentation of the Royal Charter. Please make the effort

to come to show the Mayor how strong and active our

Company is. Please contact the Clerk to let him know, so

that he has an idea of numbers coming.

The first English Royal Charter

was granted in 1231 (to the

University of Cambridge). The

first Worshipful Company

awarded a Royal Charter was

the Saddlers' Company in

1272. Today there are about

750 in existence in the UK and

only a few are awarded each

year. So, this is indeed a

significant achievement for the

Company
