Jeremy Beech, Firefighters Golf Secretary

Colin Simpson is one of our new

2011 members and has been

invited to join the PR & Marketing

group due to his previous

experience developing FireNet.

The annual match against the

Painter Stainers was once again

played at the magnificent

Wildernesse Club in Kent.

FireNet is a portal for all interested in Fire, from

engineers to students and fire service to general

interest. He is also Managing Director of Crisis

Response Journal a global magazine that analyses

past events to draw vital lessons for the future,

while constantly scanning the horizon to identify

and help mitigate new threats. Through this

journal Colin has secured a regular article to help

promote globally the WCOFF and the good

works undertaken by the company.

Colin left the Royal Navy in 1974 and joined the

Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service where he

progressed through the ranks and completed his

service as a flexible duty Station Officer in Fire

Safety and Fire Investigation in 2004. In 2000

Colin and 4 others within the Aviation Fire

Industry created the International Aviation Fire

Protection Association (IAFPA), a not-for-profit

association in which Colin is the current

Chairman. IAFPA have international conferences

that are aimed at spreading the knowledge

though conference papers and networking,

which are aimed at senior to principal officers. At

each conference a local charity is chosen to

receive a conference donation.

Colin has stated that he has learned a great deal

from his time served in both the Royal Navy and

Fire Service and would like to be able to give

something back in gratitude to the fire industry.

This year the event was also attended by the

Loriners Company and over twenty golfers took

part. The weather was perfect, and the course

was set up for a professional championship the

next day. So our less than professional but

enthusiastic and creative golfers had a course in

perfect condition. The Champion on the day and

worthy winner was our Upper Warden Mike

Harper. Following the match which was an

honourable draw for the first time, we enjoyed a

very fine carvery and the best of company.

In celebration of 21 years since the

formation of The Guild of

Firefighters, a unique crystal glass to

keep as a future family heirloom is

available for purchase. The goblet is

priced at £10.00. Please add £2.50 for

postage and packing.

There are only 7 left.

WCoFF ties in blue and

red are available for

purchase at £25 each.

Also available are

crystal glass

paperweights at £10

each, Salamander label pins at £80

each and cuff links at £22.50 for a set.
