Colin Simpson is one of our new
2011 members and has been
invited to join the PR & Marketing
group due to his previous
experience developing FireNet.
The annual match against the
Painter Stainers was once again
played at the magnificent
Wildernesse Club in Kent.
FireNet is a portal for all interested in Fire, from
engineers to students and fire service to general
interest. He is also Managing Director of Crisis
Response Journal a global magazine that analyses
past events to draw vital lessons for the future,
while constantly scanning the horizon to identify
and help mitigate new threats. Through this
journal Colin has secured a regular article to help
promote globally the WCOFF and the good
works undertaken by the company.
Colin left the Royal Navy in 1974 and joined the
Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service where he
progressed through the ranks and completed his
service as a flexible duty Station Officer in Fire
Safety and Fire Investigation in 2004. In 2000
Colin and 4 others within the Aviation Fire
Industry created the International Aviation Fire
Protection Association (IAFPA), a not-for-profit
association in which Colin is the current
Chairman. IAFPA have international conferences
that are aimed at spreading the knowledge
though conference papers and networking,
which are aimed at senior to principal officers. At
each conference a local charity is chosen to
receive a conference donation.
Colin has stated that he has learned a great deal
from his time served in both the Royal Navy and
Fire Service and would like to be able to give
something back in gratitude to the fire industry.

This year the event was also attended by the
Loriners Company and over twenty golfers took
part. The weather was perfect, and the course
was set up for a professional championship the
next day. So our less than professional but
enthusiastic and creative golfers had a course in
perfect condition. The Champion on the day and
worthy winner was our Upper Warden Mike
Harper. Following the match which was an
honourable draw for the first time, we enjoyed a
very fine carvery and the best of company.
In celebration of 21 years since the
formation of The Guild of
Firefighters, a unique crystal glass to
keep as a future family heirloom is
available for purchase. The goblet is
priced at £10.00. Please add £2.50 for
