Renter Warden Peter M Holland CBE QFSM FIFireE

Peter served for 40 years in the Fire and Rescue Service until 2012 and was appointed in 2013 as the Government’s Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser and HM Inspector in the then DCLG.

In 2017 he was appointed the Chief Inspector of the Crown Premises Fire Safety Inspectorate which enforces fire safety across 10000 sites in England.

He served as a Chief Fire Officer for 17 years having risen through the ranks serving across England. He was awarded the CBE in 2010 and prior to that in 1997 the Queens Fire Service Medal (QFSM) for his significant contribution to the Fire Service and Fire Safety.

He was International President of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) in 1997/8. He inaugurated new Branches in SW India, Malaysia, Germany and Belgium.

In 1998 he set up the UK National Fire Sprinkler Network which he chaired with distinction for 10 years working with government to change the Building Regulations to improve life safety and property protection by requiring sprinklers in single storey retail premises. This was in the immediate aftermath of the death of the first female firefighter in one of these buildings.

In 2010 he was elected by his Fire Chief peers to be President of the Chief Fire Officers Association. He successfully Chaired a UK Government review addressing the problem of major fires in large timber framed buildings whilst under construction and when occupied.

He has spoken at major conferences in countries across the world, including the USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, China, Malaysia, India, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
