Professor Holt had a career spanning more than 50 years as a medical laboratory scientist. He became Professor of Bioanalytics at St George’s, University of London, where he founded a high-profile laboratory providing services to health care professionals, the pharma industry and law enforcement agencies. He is a recipient of the Charles E Pippenger Award for Outstanding Contributions to Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and a past President of the International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology.
Professor Holt developed an interest in firefighting following involvement with an industrial fire brigade in Erith, Kent. As a result, he accumulated an eclectic collection of books, photographs and other ephemera on the fire and rescue services and carried this interest into his professional life with an involvement in laboratory safety.
After joining the Company in 2013 Professor Holt became involved with the educational and charitable aspects of the Company and, given his interest in fire service heritage, he was asked to become the Company Archivist. He is involved with a number of City of London organisations, including City Livery Club, Livery Schools Link, the Pan Livery Pro Bono Steering Group and Billingsgate and Tower Ward Clubs. He is a frequent speaker in schools on topics related to career development, especially those in medical specialties. Outside the City, he is a supporter of several opera and music groups that foster the talents of young artists.
