A Memorandum of Understanding

On February 14th our Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Fire Chiefs Council UK Fire Cadets. The object of the agreement was to form a partnership to support and encourage the objectives of the Fire Cadet schemes across the country, using Ambassadors drawn from our Company.

The document was the result of some patient discussions with the NFCC over a period of 12 months, led by Liverymen Peter Hopkins, assisted by Liveryman Colin Simpson. It built on our long-term support for Fire Cadet groups, both as a Company and through our Charitable Trust.

The location for the signing ceremony was the Aldermen’s Court Room in Guildhall. We were delighted to have five LFB Cadets drawn from Finchley, Tottenham and Hackney to witness the signing, supported by their Cadet Instructors, Simon Wright and Colin Trowels, together with Jonathan McDonald the LFB Manager Fire Cadets.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Firefighters by the Master, Prof. David Holt and for the NFCC by Susannah Hancock, Chief Executive Officer.

Several of the Ambassadors were able to attend the signing, including PM Murray, PM Hoad, Under Warden-in-Waiting Mark Rist and Liverymen Ian Knox and Alistair Milner. Also in attendance was LFB Assistant Commissioner Richard Field and Freeman Lucy Macleod, Borough Commander, Hammersmith and Fulham.

There will be more on the development of this project and those involved in its delivery over the coming weeks.
