Water Safety Award
The Worshipful Company of Firefighters is delighted to note that one of our Liveryman has received a prestigious award from the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC).
At the NFCC Celebrating Prevention Awards Ceremony earlier this month Dawn Whittaker KFSM, Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive of East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, received the Outstanding Contribution Award. This was in special recognition of her contributions to Water Safety, as the NFCC Lead over the period 2013 -2024.
Dawn is currently working with other Company members and specialists to develop one of our upcoming Fire Lectures. It will feature the developments taking place in the Fire & Rescue Services to tackle Water Rescue Techniques, in the context of increasing incidents of flash flooding. A cursory look at the news over the last few months highlights the fact that climate change has exacerbated the frequency and severity of flooding incidents, posing many risks to both the public and the Rescue Services.
Dawn retires next month and she takes with her the sincere best wishes of her colleagues in The Worshipful Company of Firefighters.
