National Firefighters Day
Firefighters Memorial Day, an international event held on May 4th this year, is a chance to show solidarity and remembrance for firefighters and fire and rescue workers around the world.
In the City of London a major event marking the day is a ceremony at the Firefighters Memorial close to St Paul’s Cathedral. Our main picture shows two of our Liverymen, Barry Sargent on the left and Mick Rollings on the right of the line-up, representing the London Fire Brigade Retired Members Association at the ceremony. Also pictured, next to Barry Sargent, is Borough Commander Jim Chapman, from Dowgate Fire Station, our only remaining fire station within the City of London. Our second photograph show Past Master Colin Livett, Chairman of the Firefighters Memorial Trust, with others from the fire and rescue services attending the event.
