New Year’s Honours List 2022

The Worshipful Company of Firefighters would like to congratulate the following Fire and Rescue personnel who have been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) & Queen’s Fire Service Medal (QFSM) in the recent New Year’s Honours List:

ORDERS OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE

King George V created these honours during World War I to reward services to the war effort by civilians at home and servicemen in support positions.

The ranks are Commander (CBE), Member (MBE), Officer (OBE) and Medallist (BEM).

They are now awarded for prominent national or regional roles and to those making distinguished or notable contributions in their own specific areas of activity.

The honour of an MBE, in particular, can be given for achievement or service in the community.

BRITISH EMPIRE MEDAL (BEM)

  • Alan GIBSON, Fundraiser, Fire Fighters Charity. For services to Charity and to the community in County Durham, Burnhope, County Durham
  • Rebecca Jayne JEFFERIES, Head, Human Resources and Learning and Development, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. For services to Fire and Rescue, Tilehurst, Berkshire
  • Lindsay SIELSKI, Crew Manager, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. For services to Fire and Rescue, Preston, Lancashire
  • Thomas Gordon SMYTH, Board Member, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service. For Public Service, Ballymoney, County Antrim
  • John Craig WALL, Group Manager, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service. For charitable services in Cumbria, Cockermouth, Cumbria
