Livery Company Pancake Day Races 2019 An annual event held in the Guildhall Yard

March 5th was a bright sunny morning as we assembled in Guildhall Yard for the Inter- Livery Pancake Races, in aid of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal. The organisation of the event draws together a number of Livery Companies – the Poulters who provided the eggs, the aprons and chef’s hats, the Fruiterers provide the lemons, the Glovers the gloves, the Gunmakers a small cannon to start the races and the Clockmakers ensure accurate time keeping.
The Firefighters fielded a full team for the races and, unlike last year, when conditions were
too treacherous to allow running across Guildhall Yard, this year our members put on spirited performances for a variety of heats. Past Master Bruce Hoad appeared in a vintage fire kit, with added blue light, for the Novelty Race. No prizes won by our participants, but it was a very enjoyable morning.
Our Group photo shows the Master, Andrew Mayes J.P., Past Master Bruce Hoad, Liverymen Nicole Hoffman and Andrew Phillips, and our Clerk, Steven Tamcken. Also pictured is Andrew Phillips making a dash for the finish.
