The Charitable Trust meets four times a year, in between the Trustees are in email touch and can request further information in order to ratify a potential decision at the next meeting.
Decisions taken in 2017 include the following:
Grenfell Tower
A donation of £1k was coordinated by the Worshipful Company of Bakers on behalf of the Livery Companies £115k. In addition a donation of £7.5k was given to the LFB for additional counselling following the tragic fire.
Essex Fire and Rescue
At the October meeting, Donna Finch MBE and Matthew Hill gave an excellent presentation on the work of Essex Firebreak, which they are likely to extend to additional Fire Rescue Services. They are engaging with youth, prisoners, young carers as well as the disabled. Following the presentation, the full amount of their request for £20k was agreed.
1 week training course in Chisinau at the invitation of the CPESS of Moldova.
  The Burns Camp was a beneficiary of the City Dinner on November 7 2017. A cheque for £10k was presented and one of the Burns Camp beneficiaries spoke movingly of her future career in cosmetic makeup.
Other Applications
Sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Firefighters Charitable Trust and organised by FIRE AID, a team from SARAID and Avon Fire & Rescue Service delivered a 1-week training course in Chisinau at the invitation of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service (CPESS) of Moldova. “It was great to be able to share our engineering USAR knowledge and experience with such an enthusiastic group. We covered a lot of different techniques during the week and really felt like the training was appreciated,” said SARAID volunteer Mark Scorer.
Fundraising (City Dinner)
The total amount raised was £20k and again was a very enjoyable evening hosted by XL Caitlin with 100% of all the money raised going directly to
the Charitable Trust in support of Fire related Youth Training, Education & Support schemes. The focus was again on the work of the Burns Camp and their work supporting young burns survivors.
New Trustees
New Trustees are particularly welcome to join Charitable Trust. Education and Training is an area where we would like to see more applications.
Core Charities
TheCharitableTrust’sobjectives are unchanged but the review of Core Charities endorsed the importance of applications in line with the Objectives.
JM FINN
JM Finn are performing well in line with the market and the portfolio is well managed and amounting to £365k at the latest valuation.
