Wardens, or the Clerk have any ideas for Company development.
Finally we are very fortunate to have many people working hard for the Company on Committees and in many other ways. I should like to thank them all for their efforts which are much appreciated.
Michael Harper
Firefighters at the fore in the Lord Mayor's livery company pancake race - pictures show Master Michael Harper concentrating on tossing his pancake, Renter-Warden Bryan Spearman ready for the off and Upper-Warden Beryl Jeffrey in full flight at the turn. Good fun was had by all and money was raised for the Lord Mayor's charity.
The Salamander
The Worshipful Company of Firefighters
As I write this piece at the start of the New Year and hopefully spring around the corner, I can say that we find the Company in good heart for the year ahead. We now have a satisfactory financial position, membership is on an upward trend and we have a strong programme of events coming up. I hope that many of you will be able to enjoy these as the year progresses.
The PR group is making good progress with a new web-site now up and running which will not only present a stronger outward image to our communities, but will also be able to allow livery members to access information on the Company securely and for us to be able to transact bookings and purchase memorabilia more efficiently.
A highlight for me in raising our profile was the City Dinner which featured our work in the Education and Training field and is featured in this newsletter. We look forward to seeing another successful Fire Lecture again, which demonstrates how we can influence the communities we understand and serve. I encourage you to attend if you can – details can be found in this newsletter and on our web-site. We also enjoyed a memorable Carol Service which attracted a good attendance and the Company was present at the annual Livery Companies’ pancake race.
We need to keep our focus on measures and events to interest our growing membership and I would encourage all members to let me,
