Lithium-ion Battery Fires

Fire Lecture – May 14th, 2024

On May 14th we will deliver an online lecture as part of the webinar series, Knowledge Miles: The 695th Lord Mayor’s Lecture Series. This is a lecture series running throughout the year of Professor Michael Mainelli’s mayoralty. (https://knowledOgemiles.net)

Our contribution to the series will be a lecture on lithium-ion battery fires and willoutline the problems these batteries pose and the emerging technologies to counter the fire safety issues. Our guest speaker will be Phil Clark, Emerging Energy Technologies Lead for the National Fire Chiefs Council in the UK. The presentation will be chaired by our Under Warden Peter Holland, a former Chief Fire Officer and currently the Chief Inspector of the Crown Premises Fire Safety Inspectorate.

The talk is scheduled for 11:00 – 11:45 and is free to attend. The presentation will be available online afterwards but, of course, if you join in real-time, you will be able to take part in the Q&A session.
