Retirement of Rev. George Bush

On January 15th, the Rev. George Bush, our Company Chaplain for many years, officiated at a service to celebrate his Ministry at St Mary-le-Bow over more than 20 years, prior to his retirement on February 2nd.

Our Master and Consort, together with a few members of the Company attended the Solemn Evensong in a church packed with representatives of the Livery Companies with which George was associated. The Masters of the Worshipful Companies of Mercers, Grocers, Scriveners, Furniture Makers, Arbitrators, Firefighters and International Bankers, together with the Dean of the Arches, the Bishop of London, the Ward Alderman and the Pearly Queen of Bow Bells processed at the start and end of the Service.

Following the Service the attendees were invited to a reception at Grocers’ Hall. During the reception several generous tributes to George’s work at St Mary-le-Bow were made, led by Master Grocer, Alderman Sir Charles Bowman.
