WCoFF Visit to London Heathrow

WCoFF LHR Visit

The Firefighters enjoyed a splendid visit to the Heathrow Airport Fire and Rescue Service recently. Our visit started with a tour of the multi-agency airport control centre at Compass House then moved to the airside Central Fire Station. Here Gary Barthram, Senior Airport Fire Manager, gave a talk on the work of the Service, then we had the rare privilege of ascending the Control Tower for a panoramic view of the airport. Finally, we had a tour of airside sites and a closer look at the appliances in the Central Fire Station. Our thanks are due to Gary, his deputy Mark Summerhill, and the station staff for a very enjoyable visit. A full account will appear in the next issue of Salamander.

Our group is pictured at the head of the Rosenbauer Emergency Rescue Steps.
