2433 (Ramsgate and Manston) Squadron Air Training Corps

2433 (Ramsgate and Manston) Squadron Air Training Corps and Affiliated to the Worshipful Company of Firefghters 1st March 2016.

Following extensive preparedness and a successful interim inspection conducted by Group Captain Lewis, Commandant, London & South East Region, on the 26th April; 2433 Sqn were one of only three Squadrons to reach the National Final of the competition for the Morris Trophy: an award for the top squadron which has more than 46 cadets.

The final inspection was conducted at the Squadron’s base at Manston by Air Commodore McCafferty CBE RAFR, Commandant Air Cadets, on the 19th July 2017.

John Mansfield, Master, Past Master Alan Wells and Liveryman Jeanne Brinton accepted an invitation to witness the inspection which was conducted both indoors and outdoors during a pleasant summer evening. The inspecting officer listened to a presentation about the Squadron’s work and observed the cadets working with their flight simulator, which the Company had supported financially, and cadets receiving firefighting training. The inspection drew to a close with a formal parade when the inspecting officer addressed the cadets and staff and presented achievement and promotional awards.

There followed a few days when the Squadron was on tender-hooks awaiting a decision about the outcome of their inspection. It duly came with a tinge of disappointment - they were not chosen to be top squadron this year.

However, they can hold their heads high being the best in Kent out of 33, best in the region out of 160+ and top three in the UK out of 960. We congratulate the Squadron and wish them the very best of luck in the competition during 2018.
